Hope you enjoy.Curtain
The curtain closes
each day
a crack more
until a sliver
of light remainsThe warm pull
of the soft glass
and the sharp bite
of the aged and charred drinkchest becoming
increasingly plagued
as the sliver inches smallerhair grows to the pillow
skin will crack
like dry bark
in the bedOaken to the bed
the warm pull
of the soft glassSliver creeping smaller
stale air
in the dim room
smells unwashedsilverfish crawl
into the nest of my beard
itching
scraping knuckles
against the stone of hairthe curtain is to
and the darkness swells
into a shadow
anchoring my ribs
and shoulders
to the bedreleasing only
for the warm pull
of the soft glassand a fear…
a haunting soul fear
that someone is outside
the door..you can hear them
whispering graven plots..Intruders !!! Intruders!!!
come tearing into the room
pulling my cracking and tearing skin
from the sheets
hair pulling
pillow unwashed
the silverfish scuttle
from my beard
in a waving rush
turning the stiffening sheets
a sickening gray with their husks
running along the floor
and vanishing under the baseboards
with a whisper -
see you soon.

this is wm birdcock II is very close to being printed. expect to see it this month. thank you for all of your submissions - we had quite a few. if you don’t see everything you sent included in this issue, it will make it into the next.
II is going to have a new package design and your favorite strapping dead lad gracing the cover once again. and this time there will be a CD to listen to while you read it.
it won’t be long.
